Palma, known initially as Palma de Mallorca, is the capital city of the Balearic Islands which are located to the western side of the Mediterranean Sea just east of the Iberian Peninsula's coast. Palma is also the largest city of the Balearic Islands, Spain, and is crowned with numerous resorts and stunning holiday homes.
Palma has a deep-set history of its development through the Roman period, the Byzantine era, the Muslim period, as well as through the Christian conquest. The details are preserved in the numerous museums across Palma like the Museo Fundacion, the famous Museo de Mallorca, and the Banys Arabs.
One of the most intriguing spots in Palma is the iconic Santa Maria Cathedral, a massive gothic structure of the thirteenth century that was built overlooking the Palma Bay. Another is the circular-shaped ancient Bellver Castle that is set uphill in the western side of the city.

When to visit Palma

Palma experiences a Mediterranean climate that is characteristic of mildly cold and tolerable winters and warm and moderately dry summers. The weather is mostly influenced by the sea and the continental air masses surrounding the city.
Winter comes to Palma from December to February amid mildly cold temperature and moderately wet days. The mercury stays in the range of 15.4°C (59.7°F) and 16.6°C (61.9°F) during the day and 8.3°C (46.9°F) and 9.7°C (49.5°F) during the nights. The weather may feel a lot warmer than registered - this is due to the marine influence that significantly affects the cold days and nights. The average precipitation across winter is 43mm (1.7") on average with approximately six and a half rainfall days per month. The days get better with five and a half hours of sunshine per day on average.
Summer runs from mid-May to September, and Palma experiences a warm and pleasant temperature for most days. The mercury remains in the range of 25.3°C (77.5°F) and 30.2°C (86.4°F) during the day and 19.1°C (66.4°F) and 23.1°C (73.6°F) at night. The breeze from the sea helps to cool down much of the heat considerably and makes it the best time to tour Palma. Most days are dry, as Palma experiences an average of 23mm (0.9") in precipitation across an average of two and a half rainfall days per summer month. The driest month of the year is July, which experiences only one rainfall day averagely and a low reading of 6mm (0.2") in precipitation. Summer has an average of eleven and a half sunshine hours per day, and advantage of extended daylight hours, making it a great time to experience Palma attractions.
Spring is mild, with the temperature remaining in the range of 10.3°C (50.5°F) and 20.6°C (69.1°F). Palma is transformed in the beauty of the blossoms, and the scents fill up the air making it fresh and sweet. Picnicking and photography are the man spring activities for tourists. Autumn, on the other hand, is warm and pleasant, and it comes with its fair share of stunning magnificence. The golden-brown leaves falling off the trees leave behind a scenic golden illumination over the city.
The peak of the travel period is between April and September, during the warmer periods. This period also has many events and festivals to attend. Among them is the Semana Santa that is held between March and April and the Copa Del Rey festival in August.
